Artist Statement

I have a great interest in spatial cognition and the mind’s ability to perceive the relationship between objects in space and the influence of memory. In the absence of details, reading an image becomes a process of re-construction, with the viewer’s prior physical and emotional knowledge contributing to the scene.

Fragmented Still Life 1030X is a geometric arrangement that I have created as a meditative construct. The shapes are intended to pulsate between two and three dimensions, at once holding a structural form and serenely floating. It is a silent mantra, an ordered map of the intangible.

Sunshine Coast Council acknowledges the Sunshine Coast Country, home of the Kabi Kabi peoples and the Jinibara peoples, the Traditional Custodians, whose lands and waters we all now share.
We commit to working in partnership with the Traditional Custodians and the broader First Nations (Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander) community to support self-determination through economic and community development.
