Artist Statement

Street in the Afternoon Sun is a work of orange hues and textured surfaces created with plaster and acrylic paint. The work is part of an ongoing series titled Landscapes which explores the evolving nature of the urban landscape with particular focus on the integration of screen technology. The series focuses on materiality, surface, and texture, emphasizing the relationship between screens and urban spaces. By abstracting these elements, the artwork challenges the seamless integration of media in the environment. A singular colour palette unifies the series, allowing each piece to be read as both a landscape and a screen. Street in the Afternoon Sun prompts viewers to contemplate the complex relationship between physical and digital realities. Through colours, textures, and abstract forms, it encourages engagement and deeper understanding of our intertwined existence in the physical and digital world.
