Sunshine Coast Council invites artists identifying as Kabi Kabi to apply for a professional development program and public art commission opportunity for the new Sunshine Coast City Hall, located in the heart of the Maroochydore central business district.
The new Sunshine Coast City Hall will be a catalyst development in the growth of the Maroochydore central business district on the Sunshine Coast and will become a landmark building evolving over time, as the centre of a significant regional City. The building is in an important cultural location and will be central to a community hub providing public services within a business precinct.
The opportunity offers a paid professional development program with mentoring by an experienced First Nations Public Art artist. The experienced public artist (to be identified by Council) will mentor shortlisted Kabi Kabi artists through the development of a public art concept, providing expertise and practical support.
At the conclusion of the professional development program, one artist will be awarded a paid public art commission and continue working with the mentor to help execute the artistic vision. The selected artist will also work with fabricators and project managers to help bring the vision to life.
