Join 2017 Sunshine Coast Art Prize Residency Winner, Abbey McCulloch for a very special day in Montville at the beautiful Montville Country Cabins. Abbey will be undertaking her residency there, and for one day, will open up the studio for a special workshop program where she will discuss the role of drawing within her own studio practice and facilitate a drawing class with a difference!
Using her recent clay sculptures as models, the workshop will focus on translating these three-dimensional forms onto paper, exploring ways that the drawing process can respond to how we feel in our own skin.
My work is often about self-regulation and how we are constantly evolving and modifying, existing somewhere between our true self and an aspirational one. By re-presenting subjects that I usually draw or paint into clay sculptures and then back into drawings, this process reveals how we are all in a constant state of transformation and continually redefining who we are. – Abbey McCulloch, 2018.
