Caloundra Regional Gallery in collaboration with Sunshine Coast Libraries proudly presents the next exhibition for the Maroochydore Library Artspace.
Mythimo: Favourite Fairy Tales Reimagined Under the Sunlit Australian Skies
The collection of 22 Mythimo oil paintings by artist Simo are delightful depictions of the fairy tales of yore (popularised during the Romantic era), brought to life again in the new setting of an untamed Australian wilderness. His renderings of Australian gums, mountain ash, eucalypt forests, and fauna native to our sun-baked bushlands are interwoven with Europe's timeless, enchanting tales.
Dedicated to capturing the magic of Australia, Simo’s art preserves the memory of the unspoiled outback, where our felt senses delight in the sights and sounds of native birds and rustling leaves in the cool afternoon breeze. His Mythimo series invites viewers on a relatable and reflective journey through the rich colours of our vast Southern land, offering a deeper exploration of the narratives we weave of self, land, and myth.
