Blending realism with restrained impressionism and influenced by Oriental art, The Andromeda Collection showcases Jonathan’s distinctive style and lifelong passion for creative expression.
About the Artist
Jonathan Jones is a long-time Caloundra resident and an accomplished artist known for his unique approach to watercolour and oil painting, complemented by fine felt pen drawings. His artistic journey began in 1965 under the guidance of Captain Dacre H.D. Smythe at the Royal Australian Naval College. After a distinguished 38-year career in the Royal Australian Navy, Jonathan retired in 1998 and dedicated himself fully to art.
His work has twice been recognised as a finalist in the Local Artist–Local Content competition (2016 and 2020), and he remains deeply involved in the Sunshine Coast arts community. Jonathan has served as President of the Caloundra Arts Centre Association and Friends Regional Gallery Caloundra, and co-founded the exclusive Passion on the Passage (POP) Group.
Jonathan’s art is displayed across Caloundra in venues including The Beausang Room, Sethna Pumicestone Gallery, The Pelican Gallery, and the Caloundra Chamber of Commerce. His style reflects integrity, honesty, and a devotion to realism and impressionism. Jonathan is a proud Member of The Order of Australia.
