Volunteers and staff from the Mary Cairncross Scenic Reserve regularly collect fungi specimens to better understand how fungi supports our ecosystems.
Their latest Fungi Foray gathered specimens from the neighbouring Sunshine Coast Ecological Park in Maleny, as part of the Fungi Research Project.
Restoring ecosystems
The ecological park is a long-term project aiming to restore, celebrate and protect a 65-hectare site on Jinibara Country.
The Fungi Research Project will help guide the transformation of the ecological park from cleared pasture site to restored ecosystems and places for the community to connect with nature.
