A new state-of-the-art venue is about to take community, business and charity functions to new heights.
The venue, which offers panoramic views from the ninth floor of Sunshine Coast City Hall in the Maroochydore City Centre, has been appropriately named Altitude Nine.
Opening in October, the venue will soon be taking bookings for a range of events including community functions, corporate events, charity fundraisers, private celebrations such as weddings, workshops and so much more.
It will accommodate up to 180 people.
Altitude Nine will be managed by Council’s experienced Community Venues team with income from the venue offsetting costs of Council providing this service to the local community.
Sunshine Coast Council Mayor Mark Jamieson welcomed the newest addition to the portfolio of venues Sunshine Coast Council owned and operated on behalf of the community.
“With a design inspired by the landscape of the Sunshine Coast and our deep connection to the hinterland, this is an exciting and welcome addition to the Maroochydore city centre and I look forward to seeing our community enjoy this new space,” Mayor Jamieson said.
“The stunning venue continues our commitment to creating and providing places and spaces that build relationships and bring our community together.”
Sunshine Coast Council Community Portfolio Councillor David Law said Altitude Nine would accommodate a diverse range of events.
“I am pleased to see Altitude Nine opening as there is increasing demand for community spaces and the top level of City Hall will assist in responding to that need,” Cr Law said.
“This new venue, which celebrates the Coast’s unique landscape, is set to be an outstanding location to host events that rise with the sun or settle in with the sunset, honouring the stunning natural environment of the Sunshine Coast.
“We look forward to the venue being open for hire from mid-October.”
