Artist Talk with Naomi Hobson
Join us at Caloundra Regional Gallery for an in-depth exploration of Naomi Hobson's multidisciplinary work | Tuesday 31 March | Caloundra Regional Gallery
Winner of the 2025 Sunshine Coast National Art Prize Artist in Residency, Naomi is a Kaantju / Umpila visual artist from far north Queensland.
She works across painting, photography and ceramics.
Her colourful compositions and forms act as a link between individuality and a shared identity. Her continual inspiration is the vast traditional lands of her ancestors surrounding the town of Coen in Queensland and her culture. More recently, Naomi has become inspired by the richness of cultural diversity she witnessed first-hand while exploring village life, rural farmlands and the organised urban chaos throughout South East Asia.
Her work has been acquired by institutions including the National Gallery of Australia, National Gallery of Victoria, Art Gallery of South Australia, Queensland Art Gallery of Modern Art, Museum and Art Gallery of the Northern Territory, Shepparton Art Museum, Bendigo Art Gallery and Cairns Art Gallery, and was recently the subject of a major tapestry commission produced with the Australian Tapestry Workshop for the Australian Embassy in Jakarta, Indonesia.
Book in for this free discussion and presentation of Naomi's recent works and gain insights into her practice. Complimentary Tea and coffee will be provided.
Registrations are essential.
