Wildflower Paint-Out
Join Wildflowering by Design co-curators and artists, Dr Sue Davis and Dr Lisa Chandler and award-winning Sunshine Coast artist, Rosie Lloyd-Giblett for a special wildflower paint-out event at Kathleen McArthur Conservation Park, Currimundi Lake.
Participants will enjoy a talk and demonstration by Sue before wandering through the small remnant of wallum heath in search of the vividly coloured heath wildflowers.
Bring along your own materials of choice, chair, shady hat, sun protection clothing, water and insect protection.
Please bring your own tea/coffee and a small plate of food to share for morning tea.
Materials will also be supplied for participants to create a small card size wildflower illustration or two which will be added to a display for the Gallery's Artroom activity during the Wildflowering by Design exhibition.
Dr Sue Davis is an independent curator, artist, writer and researcher. She is the initiator of the 'Wild/Flower Women' suite of projects and exhibitions. These projects have a focus on building awareness and understanding of Queensland’s native wildflowers, women’s contributions to protecting the environment, and the role of art and creativity for wellbeing and sustainable futures. The first exhibition was inspired by the life and work of Caloundra based artist/environmentalist Kathleen McArthur with over 10 exhibitions since featuring different groups of contemporary artists, exploring the wildflowers of local and regional areas, as well as the stories of women involved. The current touring exhibition ‘Wildflowering by Design’ comes to Caloundra Regional Gallery in October.
