While the ease of capturing an image has increased dramatically with digital technology, I wanted to step back and ‘create’ a piece of photographic art, by slowing down the process, finding a setting that allows me to build multiple exposures onto the same sheet of film.
I want to catch the eye of the viewer with the strength of the grid lines, then when moving closer, reward with the discovery of subtle detail in the greyscale tones in between the bold shapes, finding the sun dancing on the pristine waters of Golden Beach.
These layers symbolise life through the constant movement of water, tides and sand. The exposure is raw, un-retouched, and is what I saw in my mind’s eye.
