Artist Statement

Muddy edges of mangroves have always attracted me with their signs of life – water snails, overhanging branches, trapped detritus from the inlets, shadows and shallows where the low tide leaves a smooth surface that reflects the foliage above all these inspire me to draw and paint the patterns these create. The mangrove shoots reach for the surface – such as important plant that filters our river systems and keeps them healthy.
