Last chance for arts funding

Calling all emerging and established artists, creative practitioners and producers. It’s your last chance to apply for up to $10,000 to help bring more local arts and culture to the Sunshine Coast.

Sunshine Coast Council Arts Portfolio Councillor Rick Baberowski said the current Regional Arts Development Fund (RADF) would soon close on October 3.

“At the risk of sounding really corny, that means don’t delay, apply today,” Cr Baberowski said.

“These grants can be absolute pivot points in an arts practice and are brilliant at assisting the professional development of emerging and established artists, as well as growing the local arts sector on the Sunshine Coast.

“Our region is blossoming in terms of arts, culture and creativity, and our RADF funding aims to strategically cultivate this.”

“As a terrific example, in May (2023) Anxious Artists Association received a RADF grant towards a collective approach developing new works and documenting the process for a shared outcome of an exhibition.”

Multi-disciplinary artist and project lead Jordyn Burnett said the Anxious Artists Association is made up of 10 local creatives and is a safe space for a creative soundboard with your peers.

“We have become each other’s mentors, constructive critics and hype gals,” Jordyn said.

“I encourage other artists to apply for a RADF grant to help build their practice, develop new works or grow arts audiences.”

Anxious Artists Association includes Jordan Neal, Fiona Harding / Spirit You, Jascinta Morton, Tess Miller, Ebony Busk, Nikita / New Dreaming Art, Fat Dog, Shaye Hardistry, Ketakii Jewson-Brown and Jordyn Burnett.

Anxious Artists Association exhibition launches October 27 at LANTANA Space at Moffat Beach and is on show until October 29.

RADF Grant applications can be submitted in one of four categories: 

• Concept Development Funding – Up to $5000
• Project Funding – Up to $10,000
• Individual Development Funding - Up to $750 for national travel and up to $1500 for international travel
• Mentorship Funding – Up to $5000.

Applications will be assessed against the goals and strategies of the Sunshine Coast Creative Arts Plan, as well as artistic merit and viability.

The Regional Arts Development Fund (RADF) is a partnership between the State Government, through Arts Queensland, and Council through ArtsCoast, to support local arts and culture in regional Queensland.
