During lockdown I became interested in the traditional art form of still life. I wanted to explore objects from my everyday life that had been left in a drawer or even discarded; I wanted to create a modern day memento mori. I observed little things to try and make worthless items look precious. I also made aesthetic choices by playing with composition, scale and transparency of the random objects selected. I enjoyed creating realism in this piece.
