Lincoln Austin: After Reflecting on the Matter

Lincoln Austin is known for his sculptural and relief works which explore the interplay between colour, geometry, pattern and scale. After Reflecting on the Matter brings together recent works by the artist, including a number of reiterations of works made during the artist’s 2015 residency at the British School in Rome.
Lincoln Austin has held solo exhibitions in Adelaide, Brisbane, Melbourne and Sydney, including at the Institute of Modern Art, Brisbane (2008) and Ipswich Art Gallery (2009) and his work has been featured in group exhibitions including ‘Open, Closed’ Queensland University of Technology Art Museum (2012) and ‘Light Play’ University of Queensland (UQ) Art Museum (2015).
Austin’s work is held in a number of public collections including the Queensland Art Gallery I Gallery of Modern Art, the UQ Art Museum and the Australian Government’s Artbank. In addition, the artist has completed significant public art commissions for the Queensland Museum, Brisbane City Council and the Ipswich Magistrates Court. In 2015, Austin undertook an Australia Council for the Arts residency at the British School, Rome. Lincoln Austin is represented by Andrew Baker Art Dealer Brisbane and Nicholas Thompson Gallery, Melbourne.
