Inspired by nature
Organic shapes and earth tones in the Gallery Store
To compliment the current exhibition, Carbon_Dating, the Gallery Store is featuring designs inspired by nature. Organic shapes and earth tones are the theme of the day, referencing our native grasslands.
We even have eco-dyed cards by exhibiting artist, Kilagi Nielsen, made using kangaroo grass and other native foliage. These cards are perfect to accompany a special gift, and can also be framed as original prints.
New jewellery from artisan Chloë Waddell has just arrived in. Her organic but minimal sterling silver pieces go with any ensemble. They come in beautiful eco-friendly packaging, ready for gifting.
Also featured are RILLP Design's fresh range of small vases and bowls - sized just right for trinket bowls in the boudoir or herb and spice dishes on the dining table. The tones shift from blacks and browns to ochres and taupes, capturing the colours of our land.
Margi Parry has blessed us with more of her delicate ceramics. In the natural forms of lotus pods and banksia seeds, each piece is a unique artwork. She only creates these in small batches, so don't miss out on the chance to take one home to cherish.
Woodwork artisan, James Shelly, has also refreshed his range of heart-shaped pendants. Each heart is handmade from wood, and treated to bring out the beautiful wood grain patterns. If you are looking for an affordable but meaningful gift, nothing could be better.
And we're very excited to welcome a new artisan to the store - Kabi Kabi/Wakka Wakka artist Amanda Lythgoe-Pitt! Her earrings and textiles tell deep stories of Country. If you would like to keep a special memory of the Sunshine Coast, the bunya, pipi, turtle and Dreaming designs are perfect.
Speaking of First Nations artists, we also have the popular Conversations with Preston linen tea towel by internationally renowned artist Tony Albert (Girramay/Kuku Yalanji/Yidinji). A collaboration with Third Drawer Down, the piece is a critical reference to Margaret Preston's iconic prints. When you purchase this tea towel, you are purchasing a work of contemporary art.
With so many wonderful wares in store, Caloundra Regional Gallery is the top location for holiday gift shopping, Sunshine Coast mementos and those "treat yourself" moments. We support local artists and artisans. We support small, Australian-owned businesses. And you can too.
Drop by for a browse of the Gallery Store, open during gallery hours - Tuesday to Friday, 10am to 4pm, and weekends, 10am to 2pm.
