Artist Spotlight | Heidi Broom

From Perfectionism to Vulnerability - We catch up with local artist Heidi Broom to about her art journey

In this artist interview, we meet Heidi Broom, an abstract painter whose creative practice is rooted in personal transformation and self-discovery.

After a 30-year career in the technology industry, Heidi made the bold shift from the corporate world to the creative one. A late-in-life AuDHD diagnosis reframed her experiences, giving her the space to embrace vulnerability, self-love, and freedom of expression through art.

Heidi speaks candidly about how early experiences—being told at twelve she was “not creative”—shaped her path, and how cycles of burnout in high-pressure roles eventually led her to rediscover her innate creativity. Through painting, she found both joy and flow, as well as a new way to connect with herself and others.

Heidi’s story reminds us that creativity is not about perfection—it’s about freedom, courage, and allowing ourselves to be seen.

Enjoy the conversation.
