Artist Statement

I paint with a genuine awareness that the medium has a magnificent (and at times clichéd) history. My paintings work within and respect this tradition, but they also subvert it. Presently I’m working with found images collaged onto the canvas. The collage is resolved on the canvas and not in prior drawings or studies. From here the narrative slowly and independently evolves.
