Featured Artist: Stick+Stone Jewellery by Rebecca Ward
Rebecca Ward is a contemporary jeweller and artist based in Jinibara Country near Maleny.
Rebecca works from her off-grid solar-powered studio on Stoney Edge Nature Refuge. Her practice Stick+Stone Jewellery seeks to illuminate the intrinsic beauty of sticks and stones in their natural states, and human-made materials that natural processes have altered.
Rebecca's repurposed materials include pebbles, petrified wood, recycled glass and commercial waste items, which she combines with silver. She uses these items in her jewellery to create stories, examine memory and explore our material engagement with country.
Rebecca exhibits widely and her work is housed Art Gallery of South Australia’s collection. She collaborates on large-scale public art sculpture projects with her artist partner, Russell Anderson. Rebecca enjoys devising and delivering art workshops for adults and children.
