I have dedicated most of my time over the past decade and a half to my family, and as my children are getting older I have found the time and desire to paint much more. I have had other creative outlets, making wedding cakes and exciting book week costumes, birthday parties, but now I would like to do this for myself. To paint for myself.

This painting is of Australian comedian, Celeste Barber, who has made me laugh for years. I wanted to paint someone recognisable to others, to put a smile on the faces of those who see her. She is someone who doesn’t take herself too seriously, can laugh at herself (and others) and reminds us that life is supposed to be fun.
