City Heights and circles is a beautiful representation of how I view most parts of life, deconstructed, and many things in one. This specific painting is a reflection of colonization and culture, I am exploring different ways to showcase the architecture and how it’s blending old and new within our country.
The ‘for sale’ signs with the portal circles create a kind of sense of space and belonging, but who does it really belong to? I used the bright to capture people’s attention and make them feel somewhat excited and free but then there’s always that question of what’s behind the doors or what’s down that pathway, with endless possibilities it shows a journey that is exciting and unsure.
This is a new style that I’ve developed in France after doing an artist residency in 2024, trying a simple technique and bringing culture into the storytelling of my art is always the forefront.
